Taking Class FAQ
-
- Who will my instructor be?
- NYCAA staff members instruct all classes.
- Do you offer drop-in classes?
- Sometimes, but only in special situations. NYCAA believes that students learn most efficiently and safely in a structured course of study. The material in NYCAA courses is cumulative, and often requires knowledge of skills from previous courses. At times, visiting artists or students from other cities are allowed to take a single or several classes in a semester course that is appropriate for them, but only through previous arrangement with NYCAA. To discuss this option, please call the main office.
- What should I wear for class ?
- Students are required to wear appropriate clothing for each course they are taking. For more specific information, please refer to our Dress Codes section.
- Will I be sore after class?
- As with any new activity, participants may experience soreness or fatigue in the beginning. Ways to mitigate this include staying hydrated, proper warm-up and cool down, and proper rest and nutrition. See Preparing for Class in the Student Services section for more info.
