Make-up Classes

Policies

  • Every student is guaranteed one make-up class per course per term, regardless of whether or not the absence is scheduled in advance. Additional make-ups may be available during the term when schedules allow.
  • For make-ups in courses that only run once a week, students may be allowed to take make-ups in other courses where appropriate; or an acceptable alternative will be determined. However, this is at NYCAA's discretion.
  • Make-ups do not carry over between terms, cannot be used towards registration for other courses, and have no cash value.

Scheduling

  • If a student misses his or her regularly scheduled class, whether it was arranged ahead of time or it was an emergency, they have one week from the missed class to contact NYCAA Student Services to request a make-up. The responsibility is the student's to make this contact; Student Services will not contact them. After that one week passes, the make-up is forfeited.
  • To request a make-up, students should send an email to Student Services with the following information: the date of the class they missed/will be missing, and their top three choices for make-up dates.
  • Student Services will contact the student by email or phone to confirm the make-up class.
  • Make-ups may be rescheduled once by contacting Student Services more than 24 hours before the scheduled make-up class. If a student schedules a make-up and does not show, the make-up is forfeited.
